My name is Daniel P. Huffman, and I make maps. I make them for fun, and for money, and I teach about making them at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. This site links together my various scattered cartographic endeavors.

Maps are about more than just figuring out how to get from one city to another, or finding the elevation of Mt Denali. At their best, they can tell stories that the written word cannot wholly capture. They can serve as art to inspire and to play upon our emotions. They can enlighten, entertain, and they can put us in touch with people and places we've never seen.

In time, I hope to make this a hub for other, like-minded cartographers to band together and show everyone the kinds of maps you probably won't find in the bookstore.

You can contact me at somethingaboutmaps@gmail.com. I am also on Twitter as @pinakographos.
