March 2021Honorable Mention: CaGIS 2021 Map Awards
I love magazine work, and I was pleased to have a chance to work with the folks at Scientific American to create a few pieces to illustrate a story on human migrations. This ended up being just our first collaboration of many! I make the maps, and they add the annotations and additional illustrations.
When I think of maps in magazines, I often think of the work of Richard Edes Harrison or Erwin Raisz, and so my mind immediately went to an orthographic projection (i.e., a globe view). I think it’s a dramatic and immersive to start the series of maps.
