Antique Carpets

July 2013
I prepared a series of eight maps for The Encyclopedia of Antique Carpets, showing various villages, towns, tribes, and regions which are referred to throughout the text. It's simple reference work, but the aged paper texture gives it a certain classiness, I think. However, the final published maps do not have the texture, as the authors eventually decided upon a cleaner look.

I'm pretty happy with how I solved some of the tightly-packed labeling challenges. Waterbugs (the curved city labels) are a favorite technique of mine. In general, I quite enjoy type placement, especially the problem-solving aspect of it.
