Into the Ice
January 2025I prepared this set of three maps for Mark Synnott's book Into the Ice. While I enjoy working in monochrome, it can sometimes be quite a challenge to cleanly fit together all of the many pieces of information that are needed. Fortunately, I was helped by the fact that these were being printed at a higher level of detail that usual. Many of my monochrome maps are simple affairs, with only a couple of shades of grey, as that's all the press will permit me. This time, I had much more room to take advantage of the whole greyscale range. To fit together all the various elements that Mark needed to tell his story, we went with three maps, each successively increasing in scale.
I did a livestream breakdown of this work, if you want to dive more into my thought process.
