For some time, I had in mind the idea of making trading cards for cartographers. Just a silly fun thing we could pass back and forth at conferences. Eventually, I decided that map projections would make a good subject for such cards. I invited my colleagues to contribute designs, and the Projection Collection was born.

I designed the overall card template and packaging. I also handled the printing, sorting, sales, packing, and distribution. My colleagues contributed their own maps to demonstrate each projection. They were a hit, and there are now tens of thousands of them in circulation around the world. They are not for sale anymore (the project was a huge amount of mostly unpaid work to manage), but I have a few packs hidden away that I occasionally give out at conferences.
